In partnership with the Kyoto Municipal Transportation Bureau, the Kyoto International Film and Art Festival will hold an exhibition of works by Rion Tazuhara, a comedian and photographer known as the 2023 champion of the R-1 Grand Prix. There will also be a talk from the city’s “Maji Pinch” characters, which were designed by Kyoto Municipal Transportation Bureau employees.
The main gallery will feature the new Karasuma subway train (20 series), which won the 2023 Laurel Prize. Tazuhara attended the award ceremony to photograph the train. These photographs will be on display, and the gallery will host a discussion led by the Maji Pinch characters in a laid-back atmosphere.
In addition, the round showcase will exhibit other works by Tazuhara, including his award-winning piece taken for the Nemophila Festival 2023 Instagram Photo Contest, photos of Kyoto scenery, and other photos taken specially for the event. The semi-circular showcase will also be decorated with promotional posters from past Kyoto International Film and Art festivals.
